    About Us

It was August 2006, when 5 area women met to establish a running club in south Pinellas County. Many hours were put in to establish the Charter with the RRCA (Road Runners Club of America). A board was chosen, group runs were planned and the first informational meeting was held in December 2006, attracting close to 50 interested runners.

Today the club is comprised of several hundred members of all levels of experience and expertise who train, race and socialize together.

Members are welcomed to join in any or all of our training runs held seven days a week at a variety of locations. All of the training runs are designed to accommodate all levels of ability. Runners (and walkers) can train at different speeds and distances.

General membership meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month. The format of the meetings varies month-to-month, and they offer opportunities for group runs, social mixers, and guest speakers who present topics of interest to runners. SPRR also offers coaching, a newsletter, a great Facebook page, Twitter and Instagram.

We host a 5K Beach Series each summer, as well as destination races near and far. In addition, we offer volunteer opportunities at local races, such as St Pete Beach Classic and St. Anthony’s Triathlon.

Each June SPRR hosts a group trip, and in December there is an end-of-year holiday party.

As our way to give back to the community, the club awards two scholarships to local scholar athletes from Pinellas County to help off-set college costs.
