• Training Tip – The Benefits of Strength Work

Regardless of what sport you pursue, including strength work in your weekly routine will make you a better athlete.

    There are many benefits:

    • Stronger muscles and bones.
    • You can target muscle areas where you need to add strength.
    • Improved body biomechanics and balance.
    • More power and speed.
    • Improved energy levels and mood.
    • Leaner muscle mass. And as you replace body fat with muscle, your basic metabolism increases which makes it easier to maintain your body weight.

Whether you choose free weights, weight machines, or resistance machines, it’s best to work out three times a week. Always work antagonist muscles in pairs for better body balance, e.g., chest and back; quads and hams; bikes and triceps. And don’t forget to work your core muscles. Not enough time? Total time for a basic full body workout can be little as twenty minutes per session.

    Train smart. Race fast.
