• Training Tip – Treadmill running

Nasty weather has some of us running indoors on treadmills. Since the treadmill’s inertia reduces the force needed to push off, it gives a false positive running speed. To compensate for this, run at a grade elevation of 1%. If you’re new to running, start at 0.5% elevation, and as you get more experienced increase the grade to 1%. This slight increase in grade will offset the lack of wind resistance and the belt moving under you to make treadmill running the same effort as running outdoors.

    Train smart. Race fast.
