• Training Tip – Your Post Training Meal Can Help Your Recovery

A post-training meal is critical to recovery after a high intensity workout. What you eat and when you eat can make a big difference in your recovery. Carbohydrates replenish depleted glycogen, water and sport drinks replace body fluids and electrolytes lost through sweat; and protein helps repair muscle tissue and red blood cells. Proper nutrition also supports the immune system, which decreases your risk of illness. A carbohydrate to protein ratio of 4:1 is widely recognized as optimal for recovery, and the sooner you eat after your workout the better your recovery. Waiting more than hour to eat will greatly diminish the speed of your recovery.

    Eat up!
